The Irene E. & George A. Davis Foundation is committed to the improvement and enhancement of the educational opportunities and achievements of children and youth in Hampden County, particularly those that are under-served or at risk. The foundation believes strongly that all children can learn if provided with the correct resources and supports. The Foundation is particularly interested in supporting projects that will have a significant positive impact on: - Improving academic performance and achievement
- Promoting family involvement in schools by building the capacity of parents to become actively involved in preparing their children for school and actively supporting them during their school-age years
- Enhancing professional development and leadership training opportunities for teachers and principals
- Improving the quality access and affordability of out of school programs designed to increase academic skills and performance in schools
Our approach to increasing educational achievement for children and youth includes participating in community-wide efforts aimed at increasing proficiency in academics, support of out-of-school time programming for youth in grades K-12, and general grantmaking. Our general grantmaking is in support of programs and organizations that focus on improving the academic success of children in grades K-12, particularly children with limited access to educational resources and supports.
