Laurel spent 10 years working in the financial services industry in marketing and client service roles. She was a Director in the Global Business Development Group at Babson Capital Management, responsible for growing and maintaining assets of the firm’s largest pension fund clients. She worked across teams to structure and develop new products, manage marketing efforts, and bring funds to market. Laurel lived and worked in San Francisco and was a founding member of the boutique investment firm Newport Asia. There, she established the start-up of business operations, managed the firm’s financials and serviced high net worth and institutional clients.
After leaving the financial services industry, Laurel was Director of Policy and Development at the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education (MBAE) where she led a Task Force on Educator Evaluation and Compensation Reform bringing together human resource and labor management professionals.
In addition to serving as a Director of The Irene E. & George A. Davis Foundation, Laurel is on the Board of Social Venture Partners Boston; is a volunteer of the Brooke Charter School Book Club, sharing her passion for reading with middle school students; is a former Board Member of Associated Grant Makers; a former member of the YPO/WPO Next Generation Forum; and served on the event committees of the Steppingstone Foundation and Crossroads for Kids. Laurel received her undergraduate degree from Boston College and an MBA from Babson College.
